Working as an Occupational Therapy Assistant at Victory Deaf Academy allows me to combine my passion for healthcare, education, and advocacy into meaningful daily work. I chose this field because I believe every child deserves the opportunity to develop independence, confidence, and the skills necessary to thrive in their environment, regardless of communication barriers or challenges they may face. What makes this work especially meaningful to me is the opportunity to support Deaf and hard-of-hearing students in ways that honor their unique strengths, culture, and forms of communication. I value being part of a team that helps students build functional life skills, improve participation in daily activities, and gain confidence both inside and outside the classroom. This role also continually challenges me to grow as a clinician. Working within a specialized setting pushes me to strengthen my communication, adaptability, creativity, and problem-solving skills in order to meet each student’s individual needs effectively. It has made me a more thoughtful, patient, and well-rounded practitioner by teaching me to approach therapy through multiple perspectives and to continually refine my clinical skills. I am drawn to this company because of its commitment to creating an inclusive, supportive, and empowering environment for students. Being able to contribute to a mission that prioritizes accessibility, growth, and individualized care aligns deeply with both my professional goals and personal values. Each day, I am reminded that occupational therapy is not only about helping students complete tasks, it is about helping them fully engage with the world around them and recognize their own potential.
